KRCL in Cache Valley

Current Status

The FCC has granted a construction permit , for the Cache Valley Transmitter that will relay KRCL's signal via KZCL. The eleven year wait is over and we can finally move forward in purchasing equipment for the transmitter. During this time KRCL and the CVT Committee have worked on getting a good signal into Cache County . Along with inflation the cost of erecting a transmitter has grown. The total cost is approximately $38,000, we are almost half way there but, we need your help.

History

Wanting to get a decent signal from KRCL a group of local Cache County citizens organized and approached KRCL about getting a translator for Cache Valley . The Board of Trustees agreed it would be an excellent idea, and seated a person to represent the Logan area. The translator was up-graded to a transmitter, to protect the signal, and in 1997 KRCL applied for a construction permit. An estimation of $20,000 was made and CVT and KRCL agreed to raise equal amounts; both have set aside money while waiting for the FCC permit that was mired in legal delays. The frequency was cross-filed upon (referred to as MX) KRCL, one of 350 plus stations across the nation that was put on-hold. It took court cases (buy-outs for some stations) and finally the permit moved through the morass of paperwork at the FCC; February of this year, 2005, KRCL received a construction permit for a transmitter in Cache Valley . The call letters are KZCL and the frequency will be 90.5FM.
