To finish up the Sundance Special Edition of Album of the Day this week, we’ve got Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 release and third official film, Reservoir Dogs. The soundtrack to the movie was his first release which would be followed by stellar soundtracks for Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, to name a few, and his most recent, Django Unchained.
The Reservoir Dogs soundtrack set the tone for his future soundtracks. While the film had a very 50′s feel to it, the music was from the 60′s-80′s. The soundtrack also featured snippets of dialogue in-between songs. Tarantino has followed this style of soundtrack throughout the majority of his films.
The soundtrack features songs by Harry Nilsson, Bedlam, Joe Tax, Stealers Wheel and more. Check out “Stuck in the Middle With You” below.
