Released on March 10, 1967, Aretha Franklin’s, I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You, is considered her breakthrough album. Today we celebrate the 47th anniversary of this album and Aretha’s incredible talents. Although it received mixed reviews from Rolling Stone when it was first released, the album was placed at #1 in 2002, on their “Women in Rock: 50 Essential Albums” list.
I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You became certified gold for over a half a million copies sold in America in 1967. It established Aretha’s superstar path.
Hits off the album such as “Respect” and “Think” helped her gain the title, The Queen of Soul, by the end of the 60′s. Aretha has won 18 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. She is considered one of the greatest singers of all time.
