Ashes of Joe: Remembering Utah Phillips and Joe Hill.

by Troy Williams

Salt Lake City — One was a labor organizer who was executed in Salt Lake City, an early casualty of the American class war.  The other was a folk-singer and hobo who once made a home in Salt Lake City.  They both inspired the working class to organize and fight for their rights.  Joe Hill and Utah Phillips are remembered by Duncan Phillips, who keeps the legacy of both alive by performing with Utah’s guitar.
