Historical Basketball League Start-Up, The Agenda Project, League of Women Voters of Utah, Action Utah, Utah Dine Bikeyah, KAVA Talks, Tumbleweeds, Maud's Cafe and International Clash Day, Day 8 of Sanctuary at First Unitarian Church of SLC

  • Rev. Tom Goldsmith of First Unitarian Church of SLC with an update on Day 8 of Sanctuary for Vicky Chavez and her two children. 

  • Kathy Bray of Volunteers of America, Utah, which has launched Maud's Cafe to support job training for youth staying at the VOA's Homeless Youth Resource Center. 

    • Join RadioACTive and SLC Mayor Jackie Biskupski at noon tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Maud's for a special #InternationalClashDay proclamation.

  • Erika Payne of The Agenda Project and The Agenda Project Action Fund in Washington D.C. was in town and stopped by KRCL to talk about Patriotic Millionaires, which has a Utah chapter. 

  • Braidan Weeks of Utah Diné Bikéyah and UDB board chairman Willie Grayeyes (Navajo Mountain) stopped in to report a troubling incident during testimony before the Utah House Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Committee today. Grayeyes and Weeks explained that they and others were required to testify under oath that they would, basically, tell the truth. 

    • In a statement condemning the "callous behavior," Alliance for a Better Utah's Chase Thomas said that the House Rules allow for the procedure, but it is rarely used. ABU noted that an audio recording of the public comment portion of the hearing, with the testimony being sworn in, can be found here starting at 34:12, while pictures taken by Rep. Joel Briscoe, a member of the committee, can be found here

  • Bijan Bayne, co-founder, Historical Basketball League. The HBL seeks equity for college athletes, and just may disrupt the NCAA in the process. If successful, Bayne said the group will do the same for athletes in other sports at the college level.
