Radiothon with Nick Burns Playist for Activists, Plus Redistricting Utah and KRCL's Seats at a CD3 Debate

Hosted by Lara Jones and Nick Burns, tonight's show was the third night of Radiothon for RadioActive. Listen as Lara talks with Nick Burns about his activism playlist. For the past six months, Nick has co-hosted shows about Bears Ears and public lands, student debt and education, arts in our local economy, term limits, the gender gap, and more.

Tonigth's show included:

  • Safi Safiullah, manager of The City Library-Marmalade Branch, which will host a RadioActive panel on Redistricting Utah, Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7:00 p.m. Free and open the public, you're invited to discuss and problem solve the question of who should draw boundaries for Utah's voting districts. Panelists: 
    • Dr. Matthew Burbank, Associate Professor of Political Science, University of Utah
    • Rob Anderson, Utah Republican Party Chairman
    • Daisy Thomas, Utah Democratic Party Chair
    • Rep. Rebecca Chavez-Houck, District 24
    • Peggy Carrico, Co-President of the League of Women Voters of Utah
  • Chase Thomas of the ABU Education Fund invited listeners to its CD3 Debate with the candidates seeking the congressional seat vacated by Jason Chaffetz. The debate is Friday, Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m., at Eastmont Middle School, 10100 S. 1300 E., Sandy.
  • Braidan Weeks, who hosts KRCL's Living the Circle of Life show Sundays from 7-10 a.m., stopped in with an update on Columbus Day vs. Indigenous People's Day in SLC. He's also part of Utah Diné Bikéyah and provided the latest on Navajo Chapter House support for Bears Ears as a national monument.
