Maurice White, founder and leader of Earth, Wind and Fire passed away early Thurs, Feb 4 at the age of 74.

White began his career as a session drummer for Chess Records and with his brothers Verdine and Fred formed Earth, Wind & Fire mixing soul, funk, gospel, blues, jazz, rock and dance music to create one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. White served as the main songwriter and record producer and won seven Grammys, and was nominated for 21 Grammys in total. He was a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as part of Earth, Wind & Fire, and was also individually inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
