Joe McQueen

by Troy Williams

Ogden — He is truly a Utah legend.  As a jazz musician he’s performed with all of the greats — Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Bassie and more. At 94, Joe McQueen is a still a man on the move. He’s made a sizable impact on Ogden and the entire state of Utah.   He was the first black man to play in white clubs.  As his popularity grew he demanded that any club he play be fully integrated.
