Our New Hosts

Music Director

Ebay Jamil Hamilton, at the tender age of 13, started an internship at KRCL. Within a couple years he was hosting a regular weekly program in the wee hours of the morning, 3-6am. In time, Ebay worked his way into a Friday afternoon slot, where he attracted quite an audience (especially with the ladies ;), and later became the host of Rhythm Kitchen.

Ebay's experience in radio isn't limited to KRCL; he was a DJ/host at U92. He's an accomplished musician with three independently produced CD's: Sugar House Chronicles (1998) a solo hip hop artist release; Real Eyes (2002), an eclectic jazz & hip hop influenced project; and Ebay Jamil's Modern Sol Movement (2005). He's performed on many stages and has opened for many touring acts, including The Black Eyed Peas, John Scofield, Blackalicious, Digable Planets, and played during the 2002 Olympic Games.

Ebay's day job (he's balanced as many as three at one time) has been an AmeriCorps member contracted to the SL County Dept of Youth Services, and sits on the board for the Wasatch United Front. The WUF held its first annual benefit to aid SL County Homelessness at the Gallivan Center, which netted over $8000 to aid the SL County Homeless – Ebay helped coordinate and did all the music booking and radio promotions for the event.

A common comment made regarding Ebay - a young man with a wise soul.

On-Air Host/Assistant Music Director

David Perschon, a music aficionado who came to KRCL in 2006 and quickly became the person to call whenever anyone needed a substitute – no matter what genre the program happen to be, he did a fabulous job. David did a short stint at KZMU in Moab, and continues his craft as a videographer for the Sundance Film Festival archives. It was managing a restaurant/ bar, and programming the music, in Bellingham, WA, and managing the kitchen of the Silverado Senior Living Center that led to his becoming a professional DJ (DP Productions) and organic food caterer.

Dave's knowledge and love of world music is one of his strengths, and he's very local-community minded. His degree in Film Studies, his globe-trotting, and his collection of 5000 CD's and 3000 vinyl records describes his musical interests. He is the current host of Friday & Saturday Breakfast Jam .

On-Air Host/Assistant Music Director

Brad Wheeler, a blues musician whose program, Roots & Blues , became an instant hit and raised more money during the on-air fundraisers than any other music show (s) have ever done. No stranger to KRCL, Bad Brad has been giving the Blues Calendar on the Monday night blues program since 1997; has led an “army” of people via the Harmonica Army, to try to break the Guinness Book of world records for the world's largest harmonica ensemble; he teaches Blues in Schools through the Utah Arts Council; and is a member of the bands The Legendary Porch Pounders and Pink Lightnin'.

He has opened for bands such as Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Alvin Youngblood Hart, The Blind Boys from Alabama, Bill Kirchen, Norton Buffalo, Roy Rogers, Bo Didley and more. Brad also produced Blues-A-Palooza, a fundraiser for KRCL and is always “on-call” when needed.

Brad's giant personality and knowledge of the music scene in Utah and beyond will bring a rootsy-blues-rock sound to KRCL's week day sound. He's the current host of Wednesday & Thursday Roots & Blues.

Patti Hanson - Director of Development

Though a relative newcomer to public broadcasting, Patti has more than nine years experience in nonprofit management. Originally from Colorado and a firm advocate of ‘the west is the best,' she moved to Utah in 2004 after spending five years in New York City where she worked for several nonprofits including the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. From the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, she came to Red Butte Garden to head up its membership program and then had the opportunity to join the development team at KUER 90.1 in 2006. Working at KUER introduced her to the wonderful - and at times whacky - world of public radio. She comes to KRCL to help head up the station's development efforts and is excited to be involved with Salt Lake City's best independent source for diverse music and community information.
