Jorge Fierro of Frida Bistro and Rico has taken up the cause of The Burrito Project. Based out of his kitchens, the SLC chapter of the national effort brings on volunteers a few days each week – one crew to make hundreds of rice & bean burritos, and another crew to distribute them to the homeless via bicycle. It’s a nutritious, delicious, and surprisingly easy way to do some real good in our community.
Following in the vein of other major metropolitan areas, downtown Salt Lake City is blocking off a section of downtown to cars, and making the city streets open only to bikes, blades, boards, and pedestrians. It’s another piece of Utah’s increasingly bike-friendly puzzle.
