The Capitol 13

by Nick Burns

On February 10th, The Capitol 13 were arrested protesting the Utah Senate’s refusal to hear an LGBT non-discrimination bill,  SB100. Among the activists arrested was KRCL producer Troy Williams. The bill has the support of 72 percent of the state, yet Republican lawmakers are refusing to hear it. Is this a simple case of Legislative animus?  Troy Williams along with fellow Capitol 13 member, Donna Wienholtz and attorney Jesse Nix, discuss why they felt civil disobedience was a necessary way forward. The Capitol 13 is not yielding. They will be returning to a rally at the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday, March 5th at 12:30pm and they want all to join.
