The Moral & Economic Argument for Medicaid

by Troy Williams

It seemed like a no brainer. Three commissioned studies determined that the most cost-effective and efficient path the State can take to cover 123,000 low-income Utahns is to simply expand Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act. But politics in Utah is never that simple. The Utah Legislature is saying “no” to $430 million in revenue. Nick welcomes Jean Hill from the Catholic Diocese, Rylee Curtis from the Utah Health Policy Project and Danny Harris from the AARP of Utah. Our guests argue that accepting the money through the ACA makes sense both morally and economically.
