KRCL
is a largely volunteer driven operation...all
on-air programmers are volunteers, and off-air
help is always needed as well.
KRCL
is accepting for music, public
affairs or off-air volunteers. Download the application here. v-app.pdf
- Your
first step is to fill out a volunteer application.
Print the volunteer application from here
(PDF File) and mail the completed form to
KRCL at 1971 W North Temple, SLC UT 84116.
You can also pick up a copy of the application
at the KRCL studios at 1971 W North Temple.
- Please
fill out the application as fully as possible.
- On
an as-needed basis (every 3-6 months) KRCL will
review applications and set up training workshops
for on-air positions. Unfortunately, we
cannot train all applicants; if we are interested
we will contact you. You are welcome to re-submit
if you have additional or new information.
- Your
application will be kept on file for one year.
If we don't contact you immediately, we may
later! Please resubmit after one year if you
are still interested.
- If
you are interested in assisting off-air we will
contact you to set up an orientation.
- Training
is REQUIRED for all on-air programmers,
whether you have experience or not. KRCL's philosophy
and approach are different from any other stations.
The equipment may differ as well.
-
Training takes 5-6 weeks. Sessions are two hours
once a week, and a fee of $25 is charged. One
must commit to completing the training course
before one is accepted for the training.
-
On-air selections, as with selections for training
workshops, are made according to what KRCL needs,
and what the potential volunteer proposes to
do. No one is guaranteed a show once they have
completed the training. Only when time slots
(shows) open up, do we look for replacements.
- As
positions open up, they are announced to the
KRCL volunteers, and those who have completed
training are free to submit a CD demonstrating
the kind of show they would propose to do.
- If
you are selected, you become the newest programmer
on KRCL!
Thank
you for you interest in community radio!
