Tonight's Homegrown Music: HUM, Hear Utah Music

For several years now, the Salt Lake City Public Library has been growing its local music and concert poster catalog. Jason Rabb of HUM, Hear Utah Music, shares three picks with us tonight, and reminds locals that the second and last submission window of the year closes on Tuesday, July 22.

Tonight's HUM picks:

  • "Verte talvez no me ayude" by Musor. Added earlier this year during HUM's January round of submissions.

  • “Dedication” by the Numbs from SLUG Magazine’s Death by Salt Compilation #1 (2004). This was a pick from SLCPL'S local music archive comprising CDs donated by SLUG Magazine with music reaching back to the 80s.

  • “Hinterland Sound” by Local Kokopelli. Another new addition from January submissions.

The snow that falls on the mountains in our region becomes the water that farmers and ranchers use to irrigate their fields. With a historically low snowpack this year, producers have had to cut back and are concerned about how dry things could get by the end of summer. For Rocky Mountain Community Radio, Aspen Public Radio’s Michael Fanelli reports that many farmers are learning to adapt — with techniques that allow the land to produce more crops, using less water.
