All week long, RadioACTive is collaborating with Alexander Galore of @blackonmarslc @the.msngr@mars.roots, @blackmenaces@musicadeapp, @itsdariusray@thekashmagazine and @kitokash.art to curate a lineup of 5 Local Salt Lake City Black artists with 5 distinctive sounds and styles to build out a special edition broadcast in celebration of Juneteenth & the history, legacy and bloodline of Black American music.

Kyle Forbush Reports: Busking in SLC

RA Contributor Kyle Forbush returns with the sounds of homegrown buskers. Take a listen as he finds out why and where they play for the people. 

RA Spotlight: Utah International Charter School

Utah International Charter School helps refugee and immigrant students acclimate and succeed in Utah's public school system. RA passes the microphone to 10th grader Zakia Mohammadi to share her essay on what America means to her. After the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2020, her family eventually resettled in Utah.

  • UICS MISSION: To give English learners full access to a rigorous secondary curriculum by providing content-based, sheltered English instruction in every class, and to empower refugees, immigrants, and American-born students with collaboration skills, critical-thinking skills, and diverse global perspectives.
