People, Planet, Profits -- Triple Bottom Line is Coming to Utah, Plus RealTalk with Transgender Advocate Josie Jesse, Poetry Month Wraps with One More from Lisa Bickmore

Tonight’s show included:

  • Triple Bottom Line — people, planet, profits — vs. The Bottom Line:
    • Earlier this year, P3 Utah successfully lobbied the Utah Legislature to create a new business category, the Benefit LLC, which requires businesses so incorporated to include not only financial results in an annual report, but those efforts that benefit the community, too.
    • Michael Aguilar of Mark Miller Subaru, which will become the first official Benefits LLC in Utah during a ceremony next month.
  • The Other Side Academy update, with Director Alan  Fahringer.

    • HB 468: a bill passed earlier this year to create a registration process for a residential, vocational and life skills program.

  • The journey of Josie Jesse, who earlier today underwent the first gender confirmation surgery performed at the University of Utah. To hear a longer interview with Jesse, click here.

  • The end of National Poetry Month with SLCC's Lisa Bickmore, who shared a poem by Layli Long Soldier, one of the poets she recommended in a longer interview earlier this month.
