ACLU Community Block Party

On May 16th, the ACLU of Utah will celebrate fighting for justice in our community with a party as we thank our members, friends, and supporters while listening to the tunes of a few local bands. We will also honor an amazing of group of Utahns who have made a positive impact on civil liberties through their work and activism and present our 2019 Torch of Freedom and Mickey Duncan Awards. And we will recognize the accomplishments of four high school seniors with Youth Activist Scholarships.

Program for the evening 6:00-6:30 pm - Mingling 6:30-7:30 pm - Awards Ceremony & Program 7:30-9:00 pm - Live music This event is free and open to all friends and allies. Food and dessert will be provided, and a cash bar will be on site.

NKUT Super Adoption

Join us at the Utah State Fairpark for the spring NKUT Super Adoption Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18. Hundreds of adorable, adoptable dogs,, cats, puppies and kittens from our NKUT Coalition partners will be available, with fees starting at just $25. All adoptions include spay/neuter and vaccinations. Free parking and admission, and all adopters go home with a goody bag for their pets. Bring the whole family and dogs are welcome on secure leashes for meet and greets.

Living Traditions Festival

Produced by the Salt Lake City Arts Council, the Living Traditions Festival is a Free three-day multicultural festival celebrating the traditional music, dance, crafts and foods of Salt Lake City’s contemporary ethnic communities. Admission is free for all event attendees, which brings together over 90 cultures that have made Salt Lake City their home.

Living Traditions will be held on Friday May 17thfrom 5 to 10pm; Saturday May 18 from noon to 10pm and Sunday May 19 from noon to 7pm

Local ethnic artists, craftspeople, dancers, musicians and chefs provide the framework for the Festival. They teach attendees about the traditions, techniques, styles, and materials used in the respective art forms, many of which are centuries old, that have been passed down generation to generation. Hope and Healing Gala

Join us for the Rape Recovery Center’s largest event, the 7th annual Hope and Healing Gala. The evening focuses on raising money to support the critical services provided at the Rape Recovery Center like Professional Therapy, Counseling, Support Groups, Advocacy, Prevention Education, Hospital Response and a 24/7 Crisis Line. Our services are offered to all survivors at no cost, so by supporting the Hope and Healing Gala, you are helping provide essential resources to survivors in our community.

Tickets are $75 and include two drink tickets. Additional drink tickets are available for $5 each. You can find out more info about this event and purchase tickets at www.raperecoverycenter.org. We look forward to sharing heavy hors d'oeuvres, libations, a large silent auction, live auction, empowering speakers, live music, and an inspiring evening celebrating hope, healing, and recovery.

Real Women Run Spring Training

Real Women Run Spring Training will take place on the 18th at the Hinckley Institute of Politics. This is an opportunity for practical training and guidance for declared candidates, or those who are considering filing to run in the 2019 municipal elections, and their campaign staff or volunteers. This training will be focused on the core skills, strategies, and information needed to run a successful municipal campaign. Featuring workshop sessions as well as time for individualized consulting with Utah-based campaign experts.
