Woman’s Hour have suffered an unusual case of difficult-second-album syndrome. The band emerged with an impressive debut, Conversations, in 2014. They began working on the follow-up, ran into problems, decided to split up, then decided they ought to finish the album after all, which is now released as Ephyra. The title is the word for a larval jellyfish — in other words, the beginning of a process that can end with a nasty sting.
