Jubilate Presents "Sine Instrumentali" - An Evening of A Cappella Choral Music, Sat May 18

Sine Instrumentali translates from Italian as “without instruments”. Please join us for an evening of ‘A Cappella’ (which means ‘in the style of the chapel’, but that’s another bit of trivia) music spanning over 400 years – from 1572 to 2024! You’ll hear music from composers who are long-dead (Tomas Luis de Victoria wrote “O Quam Gloriosum” – ‘Oh how glorious’ in 1572) to the still-living (Scott Larrabee and Harry Heightman are composing and arranging in 2024 – so far, anyway). Prepare to hear the sublime – “Ave Verum Corpus” (Byrd), “If Ye Love Me (Tallis), “Alleluia” (Thompson), as well as the ridiculous “My Bonny Lass She Smelleth” (P.D.Q. Bach), and several in-between (“Lida Rose” from ‘The Music Man’). Choose from two performances – or attend both! – each at 7PM but at two different venues – Friday May 10 (Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 200 South 700 East, Salt Lake City, 84102) and Saturday May 18 (St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Holladay). We will dress up but you can come as you are! Admission is free, no ticket required. Voluntary donations are welcome at the venue. Reception follows the May 18 performance https://jubilatechoirslc.weebly.com/

Hub New Music featuring BalletNEXT

Called “contemporary chamber trailblazers” by the Boston Globe, Hub New Music is a “nimble quartet of winds and strings” (NPR) forging new paths in the 21st-century repertoire. The ensemble’s ambitious commissioning projects and “appealing programs” (New Yorker) celebrate the rich diversity of today’s classical music landscape. Founded in 2013, Hub New Music has grown into a formidable touring ensemble-driven by an unwavering dedication to building community through new art. Across its career, Hub has commissioned dozens of new works and continues to usher in a fresh and culturally relevant body of work for its distinct combination of flute, clarinet, violin, and cello. Hub is proud to collaborate with today’s most celebrated emerging and established composers and is equally proud to count many of them as friends. Featured in this performance is the premiere of WHITE OUT a newly commissioned work by composer Nickitas Demos, which will be performed live by Hub New Music while BalletNext brings the composition to life through dynamic and innovative choreography.
