RadioACTive passes the microphone to podcasters Angel and Shelby Lopez to share Solo Eramos Ninos, a podcast about the largest single-day immigration enforcement action in United States history. Together, the husband-and-wife podcast team explores the nuances of immigration, Latine culture, first generations, mental health, and hope for a better life. Plus, author Shelley Read on her debut novel about loss, love and hope against the backdrop of Iola, the real Western Slope town that was submerged by the creation of the Blue Mesa Reservoir in the 1960s.

Rocky Mountain Community Radio's Maeve Conran speaks with author Shelley Read, a fifth-generation Coloradan and life-long resident of the Gunnison Valley, a region at the heart of her debut novel, Go As a River. The book tells the story of loss, love and hope and is set against the backdrop of Iola, the real Western Slope town that was submerged by the creation of the Blue Mesa Reservoir in the 1960s. 

  • March 16: Pintxos & Libros presents Shelley Read | Go as a River, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Casot, 1508 S. 1500 E., SLC. Event by The King's English Bookshop: "The King's English Bookshop and Casot Wine + Work are pleased to present Pintxos & Libros, featuring author Shelley Read for an in-person discussion about her new novel, Go as a River. This event is ticketed and you must purchase your ticket on Eventbrite. Your $10 ticket includes entrance to the event for one person and two pintxos (Spanish for small snacks), created especially for this event: tosta de setas (VG) | grilled bread, roasted mushrooms, leeks, local goat cheese, herbs, olive oil croqueta | spanish ham & cheese fritter. This in-person event will take place at Casot, located at 1508 South 1500 East, SLC. A cash bar is available. You must be 21 years of age to enter Casot."
