Westminster College will recognize Juneteenth National Freedom Day for the first time this year. Listen as RadioACTive shares the college's Juneteenth National Freedom Day panel, featuring Rep. Sandra Hollins, Michelle Love-Day of RISE Virtual Academy, Ogden NAACP's Betty Sawyer, and moderator Dr. Tamara Stevenson. Plus, Betty Sawyer bonus interview!

A big thank you to Dr. Tamara Stevenson (a RadioACTive Community Co-Host Emerita) for sharing this panel with RadioACTive. Earlier this week, Dr. Stevenson convened a panel of educators, legislators, and community activists whose personal and professional experiences enlightened our understanding, insight, and appreciation for America's newest federal and Utah's latest state holiday. Rep. Sandra Hollins (D-District 23, SL County), the first Black American woman elected to the Utah State Legislature and co-sponsor of HB 238, the bill to make Juneteenth a state holiday in Utah

Michelle Love-Day, longtime Utah educator and creator of RISE Virtual Academy, an online weekly school to offer a rich, diverse literacy environment for Black students in Utah

Betty Sawyer, Utah community activist and president of the Ogden Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
