Carly Gillespie of the Downtown SLC Farmers Market, which closes out its "summer" season tomorrow at Pioneer Park, SLC. In fact, join them at 11 a.m. to celebrate Jorge Fierro Day! Fierro began his Rico Brands empire 25 years ago by selling pinto beans at the market.

  • Oct. 21: Jorge Fierro Day at the last day of the Downtown SLC Farmers Market at Pioneer Park 355 W. 300 S., SLC. Market starts at 8:00 a.m., with the party for Jorge from 11a-1p. It was 25 years ago that he started selling his "De la Olla" pinto beans at the market. Since then, he's gone on to weather several economic downturns to keep building his Rico Brands empire. Now you can find Rico salsas, burritos, tamales, and more at grocery stores like Harmons, Smith's and Whole Foods along the Wasatch Front. As Jorge would say, "Ay, que rico!"
