Being told her generation was crippled with anxiety, RadioACTive Intern Eden August talked with peers, a principal and counselors to find out how teens and those that educate them are coping.
Social psychologist Jonathan Haidt coined the term "anxious generation" to describe the impact of social media on kids, as well as related factors of a phone-based childhood. Haidt published "The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness" in 2024, and August considers herself and her peers to be living with the impact of that book on social and emotional well-being approaches in their education.
