Amos Guiora, Israeli-American professor of law at S. J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah, is back in town after a summer at home in Israel. RadioACTive talks with him about Israeli hostages remaining in the hands of Hamas, Palestinians who face daily violence and famine, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to take over Gaza.
Earlier today, Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) and Planned Parenthood Action Council of Utah (PPAC) announced Shireen Ghorbani is their new president and CEO. RadioACTive finds out what's next for the reproductive health nonprofit, which has several court cases and federal cuts it's been dealing with.
Ghorbani has served as PPAU/PPAC’s interim president alongside interim CEO Sarah Stoesz since March 2025 and as chief corporate affairs officer since fall 2023. Before her experience at Planned Parenthood, she was a director of community health at Intermountain Health, where she focused on reducing Utah’s uninsured population, school-based clinics, and nutrition security.
Ghorbani also brings political experience to her new role. She is a former Salt Lake County Council member, serving Utah’s second-largest government that provides services to a quarter of Utah’s population. She also ran for the U.S. House of Representatives.
