Aldine's Urban Farm Report: Giant Pumpkin Talk

Clint Nash, president of the Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers, returns with the lineup for this year's pumpkin-growing crowd, along with Mark Anderson of Anderson's Seed & Garden, which sponsors a pumpkin festival on Logan's Historic Main Street next month. 

  • Sept. 7: Utah State Fair Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off Contest | 4 PM | Utah State Fair Park, 155 N 1000 W, SLC. "Lots of fun is planned for the second year of this weigh-off during the Utah State Fair. If you have an early or extra pumpkin, bring it to our official GPC weigh-off during the state fair. About 300,000 people will attend the fair, and many will see the fruits of your labors, as they will be on display through the duration of the fair. Pumpkin drop-off will be 1-7 PM on Wednesday, September 3. Pumpkins can be picked up Sept. 15-16. Questions? Contact Sakura@utahstatefair.com."

  • Sept. 27: Center Street Giant Pumpkin Festival 2025 | 11-8 PM| Historic Center Street, Logan, UT. "An amazing family event! This event will crown the Center Street Giant with a $5000 first prize. Who will take home the championship belt this year? Year three of this event promises not to disappoint. There will be 3+ blocks of small-town fall fun for families. Plenty of vendors, food, free movies, and more. About 40,000 people attended last year. Stay tuned for more info or visit the Festival Website."

  • March 6-8, 2026: Save the Date for the GPC International Grower's Convention in SLC. The Big Show is coming to Utah in 2026! The annual convention that brings growers from around the world will be held in Utah for the first time. More info to come.
