Jeanette Padilla Vega, FJC's President and CEO, stops by to explain federal changes to a Community Development Block Grant that require the nonprofit to verify citizenship or qualified alien status moving forward, as well as retroactively for all households served by the grant over the last 11 months. While the underlying law itself — PRWORA (the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act) — has existed since 1996, it is HUD’s interpretation and enforcement approach under the current federal administration that has changed.

This week, in partnership with the Marriott Library, College of Fine Arts, local radio stations, and Digital Learning Technologies, Indigenous students have been crafting their own stories at a Storytelling Camp with the UoU's Native Outreach and College Access Program. Workshops include mural painting, photography, podcasting, bookmaking, animation, and video. The week concludes with a public "Story Fest” showcasing their creations. Camp counselors include KRCL's own Valene MC, who explains to RA why the camp matters, and nine students share their own experiences.
