Thursday, Feb. 12: Utah may be in the rearview mirror as the Sundance Film Festival hits the road for Boulder. But the RadioACTive Team has more to share about a documentary that follows Mexico's queer cowboys. Plus, two art shows coming up this weekend — one exploring environmental catastrophe, and one celebrating the lunar new year!

  • Feb. 14: "What Have We Lost?" by Punto de Inflexión @ Kingsbury Hall. RadioACTive's Asha Pruitt talks with Stephanie García, an award-winning Mexican artist who co-founded the interdisciplinary performance company in 2019 with Peter Hays. "What Have We Lost?" is a movement-based exploration of the aftermath of environmental catastrophe that weaves together dance, theatre and visual art. 

  • Feb. 14: Lunar New Year Art Show by Tomoe Tattoo @ Loki Coffee. Japanese traditional tattoo artist Marcos Chang previews the event, which celebrates the upcoming Year of the Fire Horse and features new works by seven local artists. Plus, food by Peter PK McAllister and a new lineup of Tomoe Tattoo x Loki Coffee merch!

Queer Cowboys at Sundance

  • Jaripeo, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, is a beautiful and dreamlike documentary that brings a queer perspective to Mexican rodeos and the displays of machismo that go along with it. RadioACTive's Connor Estes talks with co-directors Efraín Mojica and Rebecca Zweig about how the film explores masculinity, longing and queer desire.
