Stephanie Mahina is back to talanoa with the Nafanua Foundation, which has a scholarship program to take students to American Samoa. Miss Teen Tausala Suzy Nathan on her anti-bullying work, advocacy through dance, and growing up Micronesian in Utah. Plus, South Salt Lake Mural Fest with the West Coast Graffiti King, RISK.

RadioACTive Volunteer Host Emeritus Stephanie Mahina is back to talanoa once more! Under the umbrella of Talanoa Studios, Mahina is dedicated to uplifting Pasifika voices. Joining her tonight:

  • Gwendolyn Tuaitanu and Saolo Betham of Nafanua Foundation, which has a scholarship program to take students to American Samoa

  • Suzy Nathan, Miss Teen Tausala, on her anti-bullying work, advocacy through dance, and growing up Micronesian in Utah

  • May 9 – Nafanua Leadership Fellows Showcase and Fundraising Dinner 
    Time: 7-9 PM | The Grandview at Millcreek Common, 1330 E Chambers Avenue | Tickets: $70 
    About: Join us for an evening honoring the inaugural Nafanua Leadership Fellows as they share what they’ve learned and present their upcoming community projects in American Samoa. Their work focuses on mental health, wellness, autism awareness, and mentorship. Come connect, celebrate, and support Pasifika leadership in action.   • May 10 – Nafanua Foundation Miss Tausala America Pageant
    Time: 6-9 PM | Midvale Middle School, 7852 S. Pioneer Street | Tickets: $30 in advance; $40 at the door 
    About: Join us for a night of culture, confidence, and competition as contestants compete for the Miss Tausala America crown. This pageant celebrates women, showcasing their beauty, strength, and leadership. Rooted in Samoan values, it honors the power of community and culture, with each contestant sharing their story and vision for positive impact.
