Each week, Aldine and Lara talk to folks in the agrihood. Tonight, Tyler Bastian of Roots Charter High School stops by to talk about kids and kids, neighbors, and a spring festival.
ABOUT: "Roots High targets students at risk of not graduating and who were disengaged from learning. We have used the farm to re-engage students in the learning process and engage them in what it means to be part of a community. Most of these kids have said they have never felt successful or believed that success is something they can have in their future. Most of them don’t think that college is even a possibility. Our goal as a school is to provide a positive education, and show them possibilities for their future, help them with employment now that will help them find and see that success is out there for them."
