Governance Is Power Part II

RadioACTive's Lara Jones and Lianna Manibog of The Threadwork Collective are collaborating on a community series about governance. Tonight, they share some of the voices recorded at their meetup at 1974 Bookstore SLC, 351 W 400 S, SLC, over the weekend.

  • Feb. 11: Perspectives Over Pints: How We Lost Community & What Comes Next | 7-9 PM @ Fisher Brewing Company, 320 W 800 S, SLC. You must be 21+ to attend. Event by King's English Book Shop: "In an era of polarization, loneliness, and collapsing trust, people are still hungry for community, but many are finding it in distorted forms: extremist movements, cult-like spaces, gangs, or online outrage cultures. This talk explores why humans are wired to seek belonging so deeply, how that need has been hijacked in our current social and political climate, and what it actually takes to rebuild healthy, ethical community without coercion or collapse. Drawing on indigenous wisdom, psychology, and sociology, we’ll examine how to recognize a 'mutated' community and how to create something better collectively. Our featured speaker is Lianna Jean Manibog, who founded The Threadwork Collective."
