Friday, Oct. 31: Aldine, KRCL's Punk Rock Farmer, brings you more truly frightening tales of the agrihood on a special Halloween edition of RadioACTive: Siskiyou Seeds offers garlic planting tips for the Draculas in your life, homegrown music of Graveyard Violet, poet RJ Walker live-crafting spooky verse, a chance to volunteer in the agrihood, and Skywatcher Leo T.

Tonight's homegrown music: Graveyard Violet

Graveyard Violet is an occult rock indie group from Salt Lake City, featuring Kiri Monks on guitar and vocals, Nicholas Leadbetter on drums, and Aaron Burningham on bass. Inspired by a wide variety of genres and artists, Graveyard Violet blends their love of horror films with the sounds of alternative and classic rock.

RJ is a poet and playwright from SLC. He's the Narrative Designer for Dreamscapes and the writer of the Mancy podcast. You can find him most weekends on the corner of 300 S Main St, SLC, writing poems on demand.

  • Nov. 1: Restoring Native Roots Needs Volunteers | 12-2 PM @ 9-Line Native Plant Garden, 852 W 900 S, SLC. Garden organizer Charlotte Fife-Jepperson invites you to "help clean up and install identification stakes throughout the native plant garden. Take a tour and discover dozens of native species and their cultural importance to our indigenous relatives." All welcome. Suitable for all ages. 

  • Nov. 7: Starry Starry Night | 6 PM @ Ogden Nature Center, 966 W 12th St, Ogden. Skywatcher Leo Tfills us in on this special evening of stargazing and sky education. Free / All ages. Please register so we have enough treats and supplies for everyone! What to expect?

    • 6:30-7:15 PM: "Going Nova" NASA Solar System Ambassador Jen Jones will present a talk about supernovas! Join us for a fascinating talk on supernovas and learn how every atom in our bodies was once part of a stellar explosion.

    • 7:15-8:00 PM: Ogden Nature Center Naturalist will present myths about the constellations and fun facts about the stars and moon.  We'll have a telescope out and warm drinks to enjoy!
