ACLU Utah is hosting a Let Utah Read Read-In at the Utah State Capitol on January 25th. RadioACTive gets a preview from organizers Paisley Rekdal and Peter Bromberg. 

  • Jan. 25: The ACLU of Utah's Let Utah Read Read-In, 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Utah State Capitol, 350 N. State St., SLC. Event by Let Utah Read, a joint partnership with PEN America, ACLU, and members of the Utah library community: "Come to the Utah Capitol for a read-in to support Utahns’ right to read! This read-in event will run from 3-6, but come at 4:30-5:30 to hear bestselling authors Erika L. Sanchéz and Shannon Hale, as well as Utah Poet Laureate Lisa Bickmore, Tanner Humanities Center Director Erika George, and poet and literature professor Kimberly Johnson, speak about the power of literature and the importance of our First Amendment rights. Bring your own book to read between talks, or borrow one that our affiliates will provide!"

Movie nights for houseless members of our communities, featuring Pastor Justin Banks of Genesis Project- Provo and Dave John of O.U.R's - Our Unsheltered Relatives. Both organizations work to open their doors to folks experiencing homelessness when winter nights drop to 20º and below.

  • VOLUNTEER: 2nd + 2nd Coalition, a coalition of grassroots groups engaged in direct services for folks living on the streets of downtown SLC. Organizers of movie night at the First United Methodist Church of SLC when temperatures fall below 20º. To learn more, click here.
