Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Once-In-A-Lifetime Species Coordinator Riley Peck. DWR is partnering with Young Living to create the first “nursery” for desert bighorn sheep in Utah in an effort to help grow the species’ population in the state. Located on roughly 1,800 acres of private property, the SkyRider Wilderness Ranch provides a water source and good habitat for bighorn sheep, and it is properly fenced to prevent them from wandering off the property. 

Kivalina, Alaska, will be swallowed by the sea by 2025 — another victim of climate change. Deanne Burch’s riveting account of living in the Alaskan village, Journey Through Fire and Ice: Shattered Dreams Above the Arctic Circleimmortalizes this little-understood culture for future generations while sharing her remarkable story of exhilarating triumph and unspeakable tragedy in a world few have inhabited.
