Since the death of Mahsa Amini while in police custody in September 2022, Iranians have been taking to the streets to protest the oppressive regime under which they live. Since then, led by women and girls, thousands continue to demonstrate, and thousands have been arrested. RadioACTive invited community members who attended ongoing rallies organized by the student group Free Iran SLC to share their stories and talk about ways we can help from here in Utah. Guests included:

  • Nasrin Mohammadi
  • Shanti Deemyad
  • Maryam Radpour
  • Hamid Ghandehari

Who is Free Iran SLC? "We, a group of Iranian students, doctors, professors, lawyers, and business persons living in the State of Utah, are getting together to support our fellow Iranians inside Iran who are under heavy suppression by the regime."

What does Free Iran SLC do? "We are striving for a free, peaceful, and democratic Iran with equal rights for all, especially ethnic, religious, and gender minorities."
