It's been a while since we've had her on the show, so Risshan & Lara have lots of questions: Pride Month, city flags, budget, parks + more. Highlights of the Mayor's proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget:
$5 million for creating more deeply affordable housing
$3.9 million for public safety initiatives, which will directly support the completion of seven more City actions outlined in the City’s Public Safety Plan
Creation of the Clean City Team, which will focus its efforts around North Temple and the Jordan River Trail
$3 million for the first phase of the Green Loop, the Civic Center, which will transform 200 E between Library and Washington Squares
Modest rate increases to protect vital services like clean drinking water and waste and recycling management
Vision Zero safety improvements to Redwood Road, 900 West, and 800 South
Over the next few months, the City Council will meet weekly to review, discuss, and fine-tune this budget according to their priorities and public input. The final budget will be adopted by June 30.
