Friday, Dec. 12: Punk Rock Farmer Friday brings you more true tales of the agrihood with From the Ground Up, the 2026 Utah Farm and Food Conference, including Red Acre Center, Biodynamic Cowboy, New Mexico Spirit Farm, and Debunked by Nature author Mollie Engelhart. Plus, Skywatcher Leo T and homegrown music with The Caraways.
A soulful fusion of rock and roll, doo-wop, surf, and western music, The Caraways features Siah Collins, Tanner Waite, Brady Flores, and Paisley LaBarge. The band uses four-part harmonies, twangy guitar tones, vintage keys, and a whole lotta tender feelings to create something dancable, relatable, and fun as all hell.

With the year drawing to a close, it's time for all punk rock farmers to dream of next year's crops. But it also means PRFs have time to meet up at conferences like the 10th Annual Utah Farm & Food Conference, where Aldine has hosted seed swaps, moderated panels, and even broadcast live. Tonight, Al has several folks headed to Cedar City for the conference:
Symbria Patterson, founder of Red Acre Center. The nonprofit voice for small farmers, artisan producers and consumers in Utah will mark its 10th Annual Utah Farm & Food Conference, From the Ground Up — Jan. 15-17 — at Heritage Theater and Festival Hall, Cedar City. James and Joyce Skeet of Covenant Pathways & New Mexico Spirit Farm, a non-profit reconnecting all peoples to the land through Indigenous Regenerative Intelligence that integrates the ancient wisdom of Native cosmology. Their farm uses only natural practices, including microbiological composting, to heal the high desert southwestern soil into a living example of how we can recover and reclaim traditional farming and spiritual practices to transform our way of life.
Dr. Mollie Engelhart, a former Los Angeles–based vegan restaurateur turned regenerative-farm advocate, whose journey has taken her from city kitchens to working the land and raising livestock on Sovereignty Ranch in Bandera, Texas. Author of Debunked by Nature, in which she chronicles her radical transformation — abandoning prevailing dietary dogmas and confronting uncomfortable truths about food, death, and ecological balance.
Lloyd Nelson, the Biodynamic Cowboy, has been practicing the art of Biodynamic (BD) Agriculture for more than 20 years. He is a BD preparation maker, builder, artist, farmer, arborist, BD educator & consultant. He has worked with small and large-scale farms, vineyards, and orchards to transition to sustainable Biodynamic land management and Demeter BD Certification. Check out his pre-conference workshop, Co-Creating Freedom, Reverence & Relationships through Biodynamics, and workshop on Biosprays & Beyond.
