Writing Workshop Series: Release Your Inner Poet

A Workshop for Exploring (and Writing) Poetry Join us for an evening of inspiration and guidance to help you discover the poetry that is hiding inside you. Bring a notebook, journal, or any paper you wish to use (doesn’t matter what – fancy leather-bound with hand-pressed pages or scrap paper from your recycling bin) and a pen, pencil, marker, crayon, random art supplies – whatever will make the marks you want on your journey as a poet. (If you need something to write on or want a clean start, we have a great journal section to find your next vessel.) Also, feel free to come a few minutes early to grab an iced tea, cookie, or other treat from Oasis to bring into the session. There is no cost to joining – just an hour and a half out of your evening and the risk of inciting a passion for poetry! https://www.goldenbraidslc.com/events/writing-workshop-series-release-your-inner-poet-july-2024

Ziggy Marley

Ticket and event info: https://thestateroompresents.com/state-room-presents/ziggy-marley Ziggy Marley is an eight-time Grammy winner, Emmy winner, musician, producer, activist and humanitarian who has cultivated a legendary career for close to 40 years. The eldest son of Bob and Rita Marley, Ziggy has hewed his own path as a musical pioneer, infusing the reggae genre with funk, blues, rock and other elements through mindful songcraft. Equal parts master storyteller and motivational guide, he deftly explores issues from environmental awareness to self-empowerment, social injustice to political inequity, while returning again and again to the transformative power of love. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Ziggy first sat in on recording sessions with his father’s band, the trailblazing Bob Marley and the Wailers, when he was ten years old. This organically led him, joined by his brother Stephen and sisters Sharon and Cedella, to become the Melody Makers. Launching in 1985 with Play the Game Right, they won their first Grammy for their third album, Conscious Party (1988), an all-around success produced by Talking Heads’ Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, which included the hit singles “Tomorrow People” and “Tumbling Down.”
