The Grand Theater presents West Side Story, book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim May 16 – June 8, 2019 with performances Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 PM with matinees on Saturday at  2:00 PM.

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is transported to 1950’s New York City as two young lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Creative team and two-time EMMY® winners, Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo, also known as NappyTabs (Jennifer Lopez: All I Have Residency; Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour; GRAMMYs® creative direction), will co-create, direct and supervise choreography for the tour.

Forever Plaid

Once upon a time, there were four guys who discovered that they shared a love for music.  They rehearsed and worked hard, and eventually became the singing and entertaining sensation known as “Forever Plaid”.  On the way to their first big gig, the “Plaids” are broadsided by a school bus and killed instantly.  It is at that moment where their careers and lives end, and the story of Forever Plaid begins.

The production features a cast of locals and is Directed, Produced and Choreographed by Margene Conde and Kenny Nakashima.

Performances are at 7pm with seating beginning at 6:30pm from June 19-22 and 24-26. Tickets are $10 and $12.

Rite of Spring

NOW-ID presents our inaugural Salt Lake City premiere Rite of Spring on June 22nd. The project was officially announced on 2019's first day of spring and will be performed near the summer solstice, bookending the spring season here in Utah. The event will be multi-disciplinary and multi-layered, grow from and respond to a very unique Salt Lake City site/context, and climax in a contemporary dance performance choreographed by Charlotte Boye-Christensen.
