The Human Rights Crisis in Yemen

Years of conflict in Yemen have led to economic collapse and a nearly complete breakdown of the country’s health system. Yemen is experiencing food shortages, disease outbreaks and the ongoing war has taken a terrible toll on civilians. Andrea Prasow, Deputy Washington Director, Human Rights Watch who conducts advocacy before the US government on global human rights issues. Previously, as senior national security counsel and advocate for Human Rights Watch, Prasow investigated and analyzed US national security policies and practices, and led advocacy efforts urging executive and legislative branch officials in Washington to implement national security policies that respect internationally recognized rights. Scott Paul, Humanitarian Policy Lead, Oxfam whose advocacy in humanitarian emergencies often focuses on the political drivers of violence and vulnerability, as well as the financial exclusion of vulnerable individuals and the remittance companies and charities that serve them.
