Unleash your creativity in this fun-filled stop-motion animation camp designed for young artists! Working as a team, students will learn how to layer 2D moving puppets with large background drawings to create moving pictures. During this week, we will be creating a visual representation of Edvard Grieg’s masterpiece: “In the Hall of the Mountain King”. By the end of the camp, these kids will have a complete animated short film they created from start to finish! For the first two days of camp, students will be working as a team to draw and assemble all the character puppets and background scenery. For the second two days, we’ll be creating the animation by moving our puppets across the scenery, photographing each step, and linking all images together. The last day of class will be a chance to watch our masterpiece, and experiment with other animation tools for fun. Using the creative themes Robots, Monsters, and Pirates, students will learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling while designing original digital creations—from futuristic robots and imaginative creatures to pirate-inspired ships, tools, and treasure. Campers will build real-world design skills such as shaping, scaling, symmetry, and problem-solving while exploring how 3D design is used in games, movies, engineering, and product design.
