The Face of Utah Sculpture

Every year the Face of Utah Sculpture provides Utah artists a forum to present Utah culture through sculptural form.  The origins of this dynamic exhibit, envisioned twelve years ago by glass artist Dan Cummings, features both well-known and emerging Utah sculptors, showcasing both traditional and contemporary sculpture in a variety of techniques, styles, and mediums.  The result is an exciting and eclectic mix of excellence in artistry in countless forms! 

The exhibit runs July 18th through August 28th.  The hours are: Mon – Thurs 9am – 7 pm and Fri – Sat 9 am to 4pm. 

The Opening Reception and Awards is on July 18th from 6 to 8pm

International Art Quilt and Layered Voices Exhibit

Magnificence in quilting is on view in the Brigham City Museum’s two exhibitions, International Art Quilts and Layered Voices from Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) June 22 through Aug. 31.

Admission is free. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. For additional information, visit www.brighamcitymuseum.org or phone 435-226-1439.



Path to the Pacific: Building the Transcontinental Railroad

The University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library now through August 15 presents the exhibition “Path to the Pacific: Building the Transcontinental Railroad.The public is welcome to enjoy a display of rare books, archival materials, and two gallery walls showcasing photographs and artistic works depicting key locations and events in the building of the Transcontinental Railroad.

Intro to Hand-Painted Backdrops

Ultraviolet Studios, “Introduction to Painted Backdrops” is a beginning workshop that will guide you through a step-by-step process of creating a painted backdrop that is exclusively yours. By providing all necessary supplies, tools, and tips in a welcoming atmosphere of experimentation, you will be free to explore the techniques and nuances of this historic medium (we will even clean up your mess when you’re done)! This intimate course (only 6 seats available) is created for the photographer who seeks an increased professional mastery recognizing that custom creative assets are necessary to curating an impactful, fine-art portfolio.
