Animation is a versatile medium that allows for the creation of movement in both analogue and digital formats. This class will go over both, with half of the time spent on traditional animation projects such as flip books, paper cutout stop motion, and zoetrops; and the other half working digitally with hand drawn 2D animation on iPads. Students will leave the camp with physical animation pieces, digital animations practicing various techniques, a group collaborative project, and a better understanding of animation as a whole. Artists supporting artists in a community space. Fisher Art Market originated from artists in our community grabbing a beer at Fisher Brewing before and after markets. The Fisher Brewery folks would stop by the table and check in on how everyone was doing and ask what brought them to Fisher that day. Having just come from an art market, the artists would enthusiastically share about their day. Being a community-oriented business, Fisher Brewing asked if the artists would ever be interested in hosting a market at Fisher so here we are!

Unleash your creativity in this fun-filled stop-motion animation camp designed for young artists! Working as a team, students will learn how to layer 2D moving puppets with large background drawings to create moving pictures. During this week, we will be creating a visual representation of Edvard Grieg’s masterpiece: “In the Hall of the Mountain King”. By the end of the camp, these kids will have a complete animated short film they created from start to finish! For the first two days of camp, students will be working as a team to draw and assemble all the character puppets and background scenery. For the second two days, we’ll be creating the animation by moving our puppets across the scenery, photographing each step, and linking all images together. The last day of class will be a chance to watch our masterpiece, and experiment with other animation tools for fun.
